This policy explains what personal information Kilburn Hardware collects through this website, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. We process it in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Who we are

What we collect
- When you order: your name, email address, mobile number, delivery address (if we deliver), what you bought and any order notes.
- If you sign in: your email address, your order history, saved items and recently viewed products, so they follow you to other devices.
- Payments: handled on the payment provider's own secure page. We never see or store your card or banking login details; we only receive confirmation that you paid.
Why we use it
To process and deliver your order, send you order updates, answer your questions, handle returns and warranty claims, prevent fraud, and keep records the law requires. We don't sell your information, and we don't send marketing emails.
Who we share it with
Only the companies we need to run the shop, and only what each one needs:
- the payment provider you choose at checkout
- the courier that delivers your order
- Microsoft 365, which sends our order emails
- our hosting provider, which stores the website and its database
Cookies and your device
Your cart, the checkout details you last used, promo codes and recent searches are kept in your browser so you don't have to type them again. They stay on your device until you clear your browser data. Signing in sets one cookie that keeps you signed in.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for five years, as South African tax law requires. Account details are kept until you ask us to delete them.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Contact 011 763 8389. If you're unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.
Security
The site only runs over HTTPS, payment and email credentials are encrypted, and staff accounts need two-factor sign-in. If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
